A well-known figure on the local retail and fashion scene, Sean Phillips’ expertise includes judging design competitions, producing runway fashion shows and serving as the regional director of Fashion Group International of St. Louis, Inc. He also appears regularly on TV presenting fashion segments.
Sean Phillips is also the Regional Marketing Director-St. Louis Region for CBL & Associates Properties, Inc. and has worked for CBL since 2007. He oversees the marketing program for 33 malls, including five in the St. Louis Metropolitan Area (Chesterfield Mall, Mid Rivers Mall, St. Clair Square, South County Center, West County Center), plus malls in 12 other states: Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
He holds shopping center industry certification (CMD, Certified Marketing Director) through the International Council of Shopping Centers, and has won three ICSC Gold MAXI Awards, one Silver MAXI Award and two Merit Awards. The first Gold MAXI Award was in the Cause Marketing category for relief efforts following the 2011 tornado in Joplin, Missouri, a second in the Public Relations category for a multi-mall Random Acts of Kindness project, and a third in the Public Relations Category for a multi-mall back-to-school denim drive. He also received the ICSC Foundation Regional and National Awards for the Joplin tornado relief efforts. The Silver MAXI Award was in the Public Relations category for a multi-mall Read Across America initiative. The first Merit Award was in the Retailer Development category for an original customer service initiative called WOW (Way-Outa-the-Way), and a second in the Grand Opening Expansion and Renovation category for the Grand Opening of Westfield West County.
Prior to his current position, he worked for Westfield Corporation, Inc. and was marketing director for Westfield West County. He managed the marketing efforts, advertising plan and budget, public relations and promotion of the mall. He also managed the marketing of West County’s two-year redevelopment, from ground breaking in June 2000 to grand opening in September 2002. In addition, Sean was the associate regional marketing director for Westfield in St. Louis from 1999 to 2007, managing special projects and events for the six St. Louis Shoppingtowns: Chesterfield Mall, Crestwood Plaza, Mid Rivers Mall, Northwest Plaza, South County Center and West County Center. Prior to that, he worked for Hycel Properties Co., holding various marketing positions for Saint Louis Galleria and Crestwood Plaza.
Sean is a graduate of Webster University in St. Louis and Oakville Senior High School. He has also been active with community organizations, including the Salvation Army Tree of Lights Committee, City of Chesterfield Economic Development Committee, and several area chambers of commerce. Phillips lives in Chesterfield with his wife, Nicole, and three children, Cate, George and Ben.
