Shop Tax Free This Weekend!

The Missouri Sales Tax Holiday takes place this Friday through Sunday, so you’ll be able to save money on computers and software, school supplies, and clothing and shoes…even if you’re not buying for any kids!  There are a few stipulations though:  on clothing and shoes, it is tax free on any article having a taxable value of $100 or less.  At South County Center, you will be able to shop completely tax free, but some counties and municipalities don’t participate so check in with where you plan to shop before you go!

Today on Channel 4’s “Great Day St. Louis,” I featured some of the best back-to-school clothing and shoes from South County Center!  First up, if you’re looking for denim, look no further than Buckle where you’ll find an unbelievable selection, including the latest trend of performance denim for men and women which features some stretch for flexibility.  You’ll even find some youth sizes at Buckle so the younger kids can dress as cool as the older ones.

backpacksBackpacks and lunch boxes are considered school supplies, and your total school supplies purchase of $50 or more will be tax free.  Check out JCPenney for a great selection of Jansport backpacks in a variety of sizes, colors and prints…I’m sure your little student can find at least one they like there.  You’ll also find several options in lunch bags to either coordinate or complement their choice of backpack.

If you’re shopping for the younger kids, visit Gymboree for their back-to-school and early fall collections that include everything from graphic tee-shirts, denim, fall-weight jackets, shoes and much more!

You can also purchase other items tax free this weekend as well, including graphing calculators not to exceed $150, computer software with a taxable value of $350 or less, personal computers not to exceed $1,500 and computer peripheral devices not to exceed $1,500.

And if you’re heading out to South County Center this Friday, don’t miss the St. Anthony’s Medical Center Back-To-School Bash from 10 am to 2 pm near the Food Court.  You’ll be able to ask Dr. Desmond Henry of St. Anthony’s at Kirkwood Family Medicine questions about immunization schedules, school physicals and more, plus enjoy face painting and balloon animals for kids, free helmet fitting, learn about healthy snacks and lunches, and more!
