The May Blues

I know that everyone is “bleeding blue” this month as our beloved St. Louis Blues head into the next round of Stanely Cup playoffs, but BLUE is also taking over fashion.  Everywhere you look, all over the malls, you’ll discover a sea of blue in everything from clothing to jewelry and handbags to nail polish.  I featured some of the best blues yesterday on “Show Me St. Louis” from stores at Chesterfield Mall.

IMG_1526Starting with accessories, the Charming Charlie “color of the month” is turquoise.  Of course if you’ve shopped Charming Charlie in the past, you know that the entire store is organized by color, so you can’t miss their unbelievable selection of turquoise tops and dresses, jewelry, handbags, shoes, scarves and more!  The store recommends pairing turquoise with bright white, navy blue or lavender.  But if turquoise isn’t your preferred shade of blue, check out their great selection of navy clothing and accessories, and maybe add a little pop of turquoise to your look, as shown in this photo with the navy top and turquoise beaded necklace.  This is also the perfect time of year for navy as we gravitate to “nautical looks” with the clean and crisp color combination of navy and bright white.  Whatever your shade of blue, you’ll find representation at Charming Charlie.

Moving on to some blue fashions available now, check out Evereve at Chesterfield Mall.  If you’ve shopped their store in the past, you know that denim is a big part of their floor space.  Denim and chambray both fit into this trend perfectly, so check out Evereve for great pieces like the chambray vest featured in my cover photo, plus a blue tie-dye romper which would be a good choice for all of the outdoor festivals and concerts happening around town throughout the summer.  And you’ll also find several great pieces of turquoise jewelry at Evereve to complete your look!

Lastly, check out J. Jill at Chesterfield Mall.  The store has gone “into the blue” with an eclectic, fresh collection inspired by shades of blue.  Just pick up one of their catalogs and you’ll see the big part that the color blue played into their “beachy” selection in stores now.  I featured a blue print maxi dress with blue mesh poncho, as well as a look that included blue print pants, a light blue tank and white cardigan.  And don’t forget to check out their selection of blue and turquoise jewelry as well.
