Today on “Show Me St. Louis,” I featured seven HOT shoe trends for spring, all from stores at West County Center. One this is for sure, leather is staying around after winter as practically all the most popular shoe styles for spring are featured in brown and black leather.
Lace-ups – Spring’s lace-up detailing, seen from flats to heels and every height in between, adds a dose of whimsy to an otherwise basic shoe. The laces provide a chic option for those looking to make a fashion statement yet can be worn at any time. Check out the selection of lace-up shoes at both Aldo and Altar’d State.
Strappy Chunky Heels – Chucky block heels are a key silhouette for spring, not only on-trend but also comfortable. Remember all the glorious pairs in Cher’s shoe closet in the movie Clueless? It’s time to say a short goodbye to the stilettos this season and open your mind to this hot heel option for spring. Be sure to visit Charming Charlie and Francesca’s for your new strappy chunky heels.
Strappy Wedge Heels – As noted above, stilettos are “so last season,” making way for the next trend of wedges. You’ll find them in everything from brown leather to bright colors (like hot pink from Aldo), and the wedges are very popular in cork and jute, inspired by the classic espadrille styles. In addition to Aldo, you’ll find them at Altar’d State, Charming Charlie and Francesca’s.
Fringe – Fringe, inspired by the 1970’s, was a big trend last year and it’s still going strong for spring! We’ve seen long and short fringe on everything from blouses to bags, and now the trend has tricked its way down to your feet. On heels and flats alike, the detailing will sway as you walk. You’ll find several fringe shoe options at Charming Charlie and Forever 21.
Gladiators Sandals – They’re back…or did they never go away? This stand-out sandal makes a statement, and are available in styles from ankle height to calf height, so pick the right style for you from Aldo, Altar’d State and Forever 21.
Cut Outs – The peek-a-boo style has been on-trend in fashion for the past few years, but now it’s taken over the shoe styles as well with cut-out designs on sandals of all kinds. Check out Altar’d State, Charming Charlie and Francesca’s for a wide selection of shoes with cut-out designs.
Finally, flat sandals, probably the most comfortable of all the hot styles for spring, are adorned with flashy metallic embellishments, from studs and beads (Francesca’s) to even a cool pineapple (Charming Charlie).
