Spring is a great time for new beginnings and since there was no shadow for Punxatawny Phil, now is a great time to start searching for the perfect spring handbag. Four main trends dominated the runway: Top Handles, Mobile, Buckets and Embellished.
Top Handled bags featured a variety of shapes and colors. Most of the varieties were boxy and structured with clean lines, such as the one from Gucci pictured above. Color was abundant ranging from bright white to pastels and bold hues. Top handled bags are great for versatility as most of them offer an option to carry by the top handles or with a longer shoulder strap. Visit Nordstrom at West County Center for handled bags by Kate Spade, as well as Charming Charlie at Chesterfield Mall, St. Clair Square and West County Center.
The Mobile trend focuses on the fact that mobile phones are a part of our everyday life. This trend gives phones and their carrying cases a designer upgrade; check out this Balenciaga bag from Spring Fashion Week. The runways featured a slew of ways to carry just the essentials – phone, ID, credit card and maybe a lip gloss in slim, sleek fashion forward case that isn’t much bigger than the phone itself! Visit Charming Charlie for this trend, or check out a Tory Burch mobile bag at Nordstrom.
Bucket bags have been sporadically showing up for the past few seasons. The emphasis on this year’s crop is asymmetrical, fringed and otherwise accessorized to be anything but a bucket! Featuring plenty of room for all of the essentials, bucket bags are a fashionable alternative to carrying a purse and a diaper bag, with plenty of room for baby essentials and everything that moms might want to carry. Michael Kors at West County Center has a bucket bag for spring.
Embellished bags might be the most fun trend that walked the runways. Designers used blocks of color, fringe, patterns, beading, embroidery and more to make their bags pop. Spring is the perfect time to pick an embellished bag to break out of winter doldrums. With so many choices, this trend allows your personality to shine through your bag! Check out Coach at West County Center.
