Every year, Independence Day rolls around and fashionistas everywhere struggle with an important outfit decision: how does one reflect patriotism in their clothing without being too literal? Sometimes, wearing an in-your-face patriotic outfit can be a little tacky, depending on your age. For children, wearing over the top patriotic outfits on the Fourth of July can be adorable, when done right. Men can also get away with it, but for women who want to be a little more fashionable during the holiday, we recommend going a very subtle route with displaying your patriotic spirit. We have pulled together a variety of outfits for all ages that put a creative twist on red, white, and blue. These looks were featured on this yesterday’s Channel 4 Great Day St. Louis segment, and all looks are available at Chesterfield Mall.
Every woman knows that rompers are a summer must have, and if I had to take a guess, I would predict that you will be seeing a TON of rompers this Fourth of July weekend. They are perfect for any summer event. We found some adorable rompers at Macy’s that feature a lace detailing along the bottom of the romper. The romper is available in red and navy.
Another cute option is to wear a top and shorts combination. We found a unique off-the-shoulder red top and paired it with some light wash, super soft, high-waisted blue shorts. This is the perfect subtly patriotic outfit for the 4th.
Francesca’s was the next stop on our outfit search and we found the most adorable skirt EVER for the Fourth of July. The skirt is skater style (meaning it flares out) and it is a very soft, light wash denim with little white stars printed all over it. Since we wanted the skirt to be the main focus of the outfit, we paired it with a simple red tank to make the skirt really stand out.
We found an adorable and playful dress for girls at Dillard’s, which features a polka dot bow detail and a red, white, and blue chevron pattern. This darling dress will have your little girl feeling the holiday spirit while looking adorable in the process.
Also from Dillard’s, we pulled together a boy’s outfit that consists of a navy and white striped cotton t-shirt and some red khaki-style shorts. This outfit is a little on the preppy side, so if that is your little boy’s style then this outfit will be perfect for him on the Fourth of July.
We also found a super cute outfit from H&M that is a less-obvious alternative to the red, white, and blue outfit. We paired a red dress with a white dragonfly print with a light wash denim jean jacket. This outfit still comes off as patriotic, but in a more subtle way.
From Macy’s, we spotted an adorable (and sparkly) t-shirt featuring Snoopy sporting a patriotic shirt and red white and blue sunglasses. For those who don’t want to go overboard on the patriotic gear, just let Snoopy wear it for you!
Also from Macy’s, we found an amazing little tank top that your little boy can rock this Fourth of July. The tank is quite simple; it is a bright blue color and features the Captain America emblem on the front. This is a unique way for your little boy to dress for the holiday and look cool at the same time.
At Macy’s, we discovered some great Fourth of July-themed shirts from Polo Ralph Lauren and Denim & Supply Ralph Lauren. These shirts are a little less on the original side and go for the more obvious patriotic look, but if you’re go with the ‘American flag on your shirt’ route for the holiday, you might as well make it Ralph Lauren! We featured three varieties of the Ralph Lauren flag t-shirt on our segment, as well as one men’s flag tank.
We hope these ideas helped to inspire your look for the upcoming holiday weekend.
